Sports Medicine Australia SA Branch (SMA-SA) is the peak body for Sports Medicine Professionals in South Australia. SMA-SA has developed this practical course in Sports Medicine for General Practitioners working with active people of all ages and at all levels. The emphasis will be on the management of medical problems related to sport and exercise at a community level. Considerable effort has been made to utilise speakers and mentors of the highest expertise in the specific areas related to Sports Medicine. Course Coordinators are Dr Andrew Potter, Senior Medical Officer Adelaide Crows & Sports Physician, with Dr Elizabeth Clisby, SMA-SA Medical Director & Sports Physician.
 
Course Requirements:
The course consists of theoretical and practical components. A series of lectures and demonstrations has been scheduled over two weekends. Participants will be required to attend both weekends and three mentoring sessions.
 
Due to the practical nature of this course there is a limited number of places available.

Cost:
$2,200 including GST

RACGP points will be applied for this course.

Mentoring
Course participants are required to attend three mentoring sessions. You will be able to nominate your preferences from the following;

  • Two Physiotherapy & One Sports Doctor
  • One Physiotherapy, One Sports Doctor, One Orthopaedic Surgeon
  • One Physiotherapy & Two Sports Doctor
  • One Physiotherapy, One Sports Doctor, One Podiatry
