Meet the Panel
Jacqui Barratt FRCSA - salt Recruitment
Jacqui has spent 18 years within the Recruitment Industry and is a Board Director for the Recruitment Consulting Services Association and a past President of the NZ region of the RCSA. She is still active on the council. Her portfolio includes Industry Positioning which requires her to build relationships with government and other associations to grow their understanding of the industry in particular with regard to Employment Relations, Immigration, ACC and creating a sustainable employment environment.
Jacqui spent a number of years working for NZ’s largest privately owned recruiter Lampen. In 1999 the business was acquired by a large global organisation and Jacqui formed part of the executive team for 4 years. During this time she held a number of National Management roles across a range of service lines including sales and was responsible for the development of an Operations and Industrial business.
In 2003 Jacqui alongside her fellow directors founded salt. She started with 3 staff and now employs a team of 18.
Mike Davies - Adecco
Mike has been involved in a number of industries over the past 30 years both locally and internationally. Initially leaving school to become a telegraph technician for the then New Zealand Post Office he soon realised that sales was more his forte after spending time successfully selling Bavarian China and Crystal to the US troops in Germany in the late 70’s.
On returning to New Zealand Mike continued his sales career working for an Iconic New Zealand consumer electronics company in a number of different sales, marketing, product and management roles over a period of 18 years. On leaving that company he continued in this industry for a further ten years dealing with large leading global brands in the consumer electronics industry.
Five years ago after a rush of blood to the head he decided to change industries completely and took on a role with Adecco, approximately a year later he was appointed to the position of Managing Director.
Simon Bennett - The Madison Group
Simon is an experienced business owner, director and manager with significant commercial experience. His business interests have spanned biotechnology, food manufacturing and retail. Simon began his career in FMCG sales then moved from the corporate sector to set up a food production business in the early 1990’s. In a consulting capacity he has been engaged by large listed NZ companies in property, retail and distribution. Simon has been a director of several businesses and Chairman of the Alumni Advisory Board of The Icehouse.
He was attracted to The Madison Group and commenced as a founding Advisory Board member before transitioning inside the business to his current role as CEO. Simon is passionate about people, unsatisfied with the status quo and driven by success. He is thriving in the recruitment sector and enjoys the challenge of a difficult environment where yesterday’s answers will not solve tomorrow’s problems.
George Brooks - OCG Consulting Ltd
A Marketing graduate of Auckland University, George has an extensive background in sales, marketing, general management and export, primarily in the paper and printing industries. He entered the recruitment industry in 1991 as CEO. Since that time he has been involved in business development, acquisitions and divestments, and holds Directorships in both publicly listed and privately held companies. Today George is the Chief Executive of OCG Consulting Ltd.
Facilitator - James Cozens APRCSA
James graduated in Business Law and then worked for several years in a major UK Accounting firm to manager level, before moving into the recruitment industry with Michael Page in London, specialising in recruitment for CA firms.
His recruitment career has covered three decades, and many economic climates, from the boom of the Thatcher years to the recent GFC. He has held senior management roles for leading financial and IT recruiters in New Zealand and the UK and also worked for the practice advisory arm of the UK Institute of Chartered Accountants. James has recruited for roles throughout New Zealand and Australia as well as in the UK, Western Europe, Canada, Bermuda, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
He is a past President of the New Zealand Division, and past Board Director, of the RCSA. James has always taken a keen interest in supporting education providers and students to match academic skills with the increasing challenges of the workplace and currently chairs the Advisory Board for Accounting and Finance at UNITEC.
In 2010 he set up Attwood Cozens whose services include recruitment, training, business development and practice merger and acquisition work.
