This workshop is designed for people who have already attended the Starting Your Own Business Workshop and want to take their business idea to the next stage. The 3 hour workshop gives participants the opportunity to map out their business proposal and develop a business plan.
Writing a business plan forces you to think logically and methodically about your potential business idea, assess its chances of success and work out if you can achieve the goals you set for the business. It also helps clarify for other potential business partners, where the business is headed and make it easier to get constructive feedback from others, such as Business Advisers. It will also assist you in presenting your ideas when approaching a bank for finance. It’s much better to do this before you begin the business than to find out afterwards your business idea was unrealistic!
The workshop covers topics such as:
Strategic planning and SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats)
Cash flow planning and seasonality
Finance requirements of debt capital and leasing
Market strategy based on market research
Planning/reporting using a Profit & Loss Statement and Balance Sheet
