The online world can be a minefield of opportunities and risks.  Where to start?  This workshop will identify some of the best ways to promote your business online without turning it into a full time job.  Starting with hints and tips for your own website, search engines explained, then delve into the world of social media.  You will see examples of the good and the bad, and leave with some concrete ideas of how you can start to effectively use social media to connect with your customers.

Michelle Prak is a social media consultants regularly listed as one of Australia's most influential tweeters, and is invited to speak about social media at conferences including at state and national level.  Having worked with clients in state and local government, health, the emergency services sector, arts, events, education and business, Michelle has 20 years of experience in the communications field, spanning journalism, politics, public relations, website management and more.

Michelle has a BA in journalism and Masters inn Communications Management.  She is a member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia and caretaker of the Adelaide social media network, Social Adelaide.
